  • Conducted research in 'Council of Scientific and Industrial Research', New Delhi on private enterprise development in the former centrally planned Economics.

  • Lecturer of 'University of Bombay': Where he taught papers on 'Centrally Planned Economies' and 'Indo-Soviet Trade'. A consultancy report on 'Export Import Bank of India' was published by the bank.

  • Visiting Scholar of Harvard University: Worked with Prof. Martin Weitzman of the Harvard Department of Economics on problem of self-financing of state enterprises in the former centrally planned economies. During this time he also provided consultancy services to the Maryland based Astrox Corporation (an aerospace company) to formulate its business strategy in East Europe.

  • Assistant Regional Director of IGNOU: He has participated in an innovative experiment with ISRO to offer highly interactive as well as cost effective educational programmes through local cable network in Modasa, a small township in Gujrat. Organised national level seminars on CIS, East Europe and other emerging markets for Indian corporate houses.

  • Associate Senior Faculty of Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII): He was the Project Director (Open Learning Programme in Entrepreneurship) - a nationwide project jointly sponsored by the Dept. of Science & Technology (Govt. of India), Freidrich Nauman Foundation (Germany) and State Bank of India. This project was developed to create and develop small businesses in India using latest technology. He also designed a comprehensive programme for internationalisation of small business operations. He has successfully developed programmes for SME promotion in Kazakstan, Kyrghyzstan, Uzbekistan, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

  • International Chair Professor in Entrepreneurship & Director, Center for Entrepreneurship of University of Natal: Established a cross-disciplinary centre to promote entrepreneurship university-wide, with specific emphasis on hi-tech entrepreneurship. Also established a business incubation centre in Durban to promote technology based ventures and raised 1mln USD for the project. Represented the university in different conferences, workshops on business incubation and technology commercialisation. On invitation of Japan International Agency spent six weeks in Japan to study supply chain management system of Toyota Motors Corporation and prepared a joint SME development strategy for South Africa. Worked as advisor for the provincial government of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa to promote hi-tech entrepreneurship.

  • Chairman, Doctoral Programme of Institute of Management, Nirma University & Technology: He was teaching new venture creation, small business management, strategy management, high technology venture creation. Conducted research on Entrepreneurial Management and Small Business Performance.
