Prof. Abhijit Bhattacharya – a passionate entrepreneur mentor, is a Visiting Scholar of Harvard University and is an alumnus Moscow’s prestigious Patrice Lumumba University, Moscow where he completed his PhD in Economics and Masters in Physics & Mathematics.
Prof. Bhattacharya started his career as Pool Officer of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, New Delhi. He then went on to join University of Bombay as a lecturer where he was awarded a consultancy assignment by the Export-Import Bank of India and the bank published his submitted report. In Harvard University he worked with Prof. Martin Weitzman in the Economics department. He also provided consultancy services to Astrox Corporation – an aerospace company.
Coming back in India he participated in an innovative experiment with ISRO to offer highly interactive & cost-effective educational programmes. He also organized national level seminars on CIS, East Europe and other emerging markets for Indian corporate houses.
Prof. Bhattacharya then joined the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) as the Associate Senior Faculty. He was also the Project Director of ‘Open Learning Programme in Entrepreneurship’, a joint project by the Department of Science & Technology (Govt. of India), Freidrich Nauman Foundation (Germany) and the State Bank of India. He developed programmes for SME promotions in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.
He has also worked as the International Chair Professor in Entrepreneurship & Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship (CFE) at University of Natal (now rechristened as University of KwaZulu Natal) where he established a cross disciplinary centre to promote entrepreneurship with specific emphasis on hi-tech entrepreneurship. He represented the University in numerous conferences and workshops.
Prof. Bhattacharya conducted research on Entrepreneurial Management and Small Business Performance. He also has the experience in teaching subjects like New Venture Creation, Small Business Management, Strategy Management, High Technology Venture Creation etc. Prof. Bhattacharya has received many awards and honors nationally and internationally. Prior to joining Globsyn Business School was with Nirma University as Chairman, Doctoral Programmes at the Institute of Management.
