The present environment is characterized
by globalization and liberalization. This has led to severe
competition and there has been a paradigm shift in the quality
of professionals required by the organizations. The organizations
need business managers who understand all facets of business
and understand the implications of their decision more holistically.
With this objective in mind, Globsyn Business
School, through its Consultancy Division has successfully
started a series of MDPs.

"Business
Finance" for non Finance Professionals" was
the second in the series coordinated by Prof. J. N. Mukhopadhyay,
HOD, Finance, GBS on 22-23 September, 2005. The current environment
characterised by globalisation, liberalisation and consequently
severe competition is making the finance function increasingly
important. The implications of the changed environment has
to be managed in all areas i.e. production, marketing, information
technology, HRD etc. Every manager in this new environment
needs to understand the financial implication of his decision.
The growing requirements of financial reporting have also
placed challenges on the non-finance executives. It is therefore
imperative that non-finance executives to have a working knowledge
of the finance function. The entire program was divided into
the following modules.
"Team
building and leadership skills" was the third
in the series of MDP held at Hyatt Regency, Kolkata on 14
and 15 September by GBS as its popular Management Development
Program. The faculty included RC Maheswari, president, Texmaco,
who was the keynote speaker on "Leadership". Prof.
RC Bhattacharya, Director, GBS, Prof. D.P. Chattopadhyay,
HOD HR, GBS and Prof. M Khemka were key speakers. The program
was co-ordinated by Prof. P. Guha, HOD Marketing, GBS.The
faculty threw light on the importance of marketing, finance,
information technology, business, HR, development and strategic
management. According to the professors, the business environment
today is characterized by "globalization and liberation".
Thus, organizations need business managers who understand
facets of the business and the implications of their decisions
need to be more holistic.
